The Site


The home is located on what is depicted by Lot #1" on this Google Earth picture.

The lot is 35 feet wide by 110 feet long for a total of 3850 square feet or 350 square meters. 

The Construction  The following pictures offer a time capsule of the process

The foundation is anchored into the bedrock of the lot. Notice the color change from where the dirt ends and solid bedrock begins.  Workers had to cut almost five feet into the bedrock.

  

Concrete blocks are reinforced with poured cement and rebar in every other channel. The lower level contains the master bedroom and bath and first guest bedroom and guest bath.

  

The vista from this lot is one of the most spectacular views of the Baja peninsula.

  

Three layers of #8 rebar and 5 inches of hydraulic concrete (250 f'c (lbs per square foot)) make up the fabric of all floors and ceilings of the structure making it indestructible. Due to the high cost of materials, very few builders use this much rebar and such a high concentration of concrete in their construction.



The shell of the garage is complete!






The structure for the living area takes shape, with 14 foot high ceilings!
